I felt like such a dumbass.
Typically when heading west on a Vanabout, I’ll stop at a nice little municipal rv park in Childress. But I had never done that on a Memorial Day weekend. So when I rolled into the park, its half dozen sites were full of three day weekend revelers. It was already around 10pm and too hot (mid 80s) to camp without power to run the AC. I popped on my app that shows me where to find “secret” camping spots and eventually found a spot with power in Dumas at 2am.
The only other item of note on Day 1 was seeing my first peaks of the trip; the amusingly named Two Buttes.
